Continuing from what I left out the previous post~
Here's another peep at the second part of my Maths assignment~
Well, the first part was TESSELLATIONS~
While the second part was POLYHEDRA SOLIDS!!
Hmm, I'm not sure whether you all understand what the hell was that actually~
Yet here I am, posing all those related photos/ our works to let you have a clearer view on the topic~
Okay, speaking about the second part~
We were actually required to prepare three things:-
- A Platonic Solid
- An Archimedean Solid
- A Kepler Pointsot Solid
Ehh, are you all still with me?
I guess not, right? =="
Okay, enough of the talking, let's go for the picture's part!
(i) Our platonic solid- Dodecahedron~
*A work of friend of mine, nice?~ *
Still blurring on what was it?
Here's some interesting info on the Platonic solid!!
- There were actually 5 Platonic solids, namely Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron, Dodecahedron and Icosahedron.
- These names were derived from the Greek words for the number of faces for each of the solids.
- The Platonic solids were not discovered by Plato, but are named after him because of the studies he and his followers made of them.
- Plato also believed that there is a connection between the four solids and the four "elements" as shown below:-
cube---------------earth
tetrahedron-------------------------fire
octahedron--------------------------------air
icosahedron-----------------------------------------water
whereas dodecahedron envelops the entire universe!!
(ii) Our Archimedean Solid- Truncated Cube~~
aka my WORK!! =="
And here's a look into the Archimedean solid~~
- These solids were formed by using two or more regular convex polygons with equal edges as the faces, and the same arrangement of polygons meeting at each vertex.
- There were actually 13 of them!!
- Among the Archimedian solids there were a few which can be produced by "slicing off" bits from the Platonic solids/ being known by truncating the solid in other words!! (eg. mine truncated cube)
(iii) Our Kepler Pointsot Solid- Small Stellated Dodecahedron!!
*Amazing stuff proudced by 2 of my friends here!!*
*Hmm, some 3D effect?? Anyway, Salute Them for this masterpiece!!*
Hmm, here's the link on this solid~
Go check it out if you all are interested~ =)
And here's how it looks like when the 3 of them were being put together!!
*With the size of small, medium and large~One happy family perhaps?? =p*
So, that's it!
Generally, we had finished our second part~ (Ehh, asides from putting the final touch (colouring) to the solid of course)
Hmm, my personal review on this task:-
"My group mates were AWESOME!!
And me?? Ermm, SUCKS??
Definitely not, maybe not as nice as their piece of work~
But still, I still glad that I managed to finish creating this solid!!
At least I managed to CONQUER this tough nuts!! =p
Okay, that's it for this post..
Hope you enjoy reading it readers...
Will be back with those solids in colours next time..
Hence, do stay tuned with me and remember to click my advertisement's before leaving too!!
Till then, adios =)
